The Web Goes Upscale
New ways to dangle your floppy.

As if the Internet weren't pervasive enough in our lives, the folks at Joyworks have given us yet another tie-in - Internet jewelry. That's right - jewelry with Internet themes.

Joyworks has created a selection of pins (lapel, tie-tack etc.) and charms with web-based themes. Available for purchase (and can hell be far behind?) are little gold pins representing "no spam!," "irc chat," and "usenet." If you're more of a hardware kind of guy, you can get printers, floppy disks, and computers (tower or desk models.) Although I'm not real sure what kind of message wearing a floppy drive pin sends.

From the Joyworks press release:

"While selecting just the right item, you can also have some fun! Every pin has its own interactive game that you can play online, and there are lots of them. For instance, the game 'Pin it Down' where you try to fasten a pin that's continually jumping away. Or be a 'Pindiana Jones' and reconstruct pin fragments as an archaeologist might."

Though this could be the kitchiest items found outside of a Beverly Hills garage sale, the company is touting them as quality items, "expertly crafted in a variety of metals and finishes - from pewter to 18K gold over sterling silver - with hand finishing. Each item comes in its very own suede pouch." Prices range from $12 to $32.

If you'd like to a look at these rare collectibles, you can mosey on over the Joyworks website at
www.joyworks.com.

So on that rare occasion that you do leave your house, as you're pondering where the door to the outside is, you can pin on one of these little wonders and instantly identify yourself to other geeks.

Coming soon - a Microsoft locket that splits into two parts, for that anti-trust romantic in us all.
